#EndBadGovernanceSaga: Armed robbers caught trying to steal on day of protest

Two armed robbers have been caught in the process of trying to steal from a shop under lock and key on the night of the first day of protest.

This incident occurred at around 7:30pm at Alamutu estate in Ifako-Ijaiye, Iju Ishaga when the robbers were attempting to break into a phone and gadgets shop.

Fortunately for the shop owner, the robbers were seen by the gate man, Mr. Femi who lives at the security house and he rushed out to raise an alarm by calling everyone living in the estate.

On hearing the alarm raised by the gateman, one of the robbers absconded leaving his partner behind.

According to a statement made by Mr. Femi, he said, "I don't know his surname. I believe the armed robbers wanted to use the protest as an excuse to enter into people's shops. The tried to break into the shop because they noticed everywhere was quiet."

At about 30 minutes later, the armed robber  was taken away from the estate gate to be set ablaze by the people around.

According to one of the eyewitnesses, Mr. Wale Hassan, he said, "They took him away from the estate gate because it was disrupting the peace of the houses. Also, they wanted to burn him, so they are taking him to somewhere that will be easy for them to do so.

"But I don't think that's the right thing to do. Nigerians like taking laws into their hands. Burning him won't solve anything at this point."

Another eyewitness, who is a shop owner in the estate, popularly known as Alhaja said, "they should burn him. That will teach others a lesson. We are protesting because there's no food and you even have the mind to come and try to steal from your fellow Nigerian. Isn't it the government and politicians you should try to steal from?".

However, at about early hours of this morning, it was confirmed by Mr. Wale Hassan that the armed robber wasn't killed, adding that he was later beaten up before he was granted freedom.
