One thing you never knew about bras as a woman

While I was growing up, especially during the stage of me transitioning from a child to a teenager, I noticed my body began developing some certain body changes  which felt seemingly unusual to me. As at the time, I was thinking I was the only one noticing you, not knowing my mother noticed and understood the phase I was going through. There came a time she sat me down to speak with me about the phase I was going through - puberty. I can vividly recall her resounding words in my head, "always wear bra so that your breast will continue to remain firm."

However, research has proven that bra has no relationship with whether or not your breast will continue to remain firm or will fall.

According to a popular Nigerian medical doctor, Aproko Doctor, he has recently shared with fellow Nigerian women trapped with the myth of not wearing bra as a contributing factor for a sagging breast.

He further reaffirmed by highlight the factors that could contribute to a woman or lady having a sagging breast.

Here are the reasons women experience having a sagging breast:

First, as a lady progresses in age, she is likely to have a sagging breast. This is to say that the skin of the breasts will become less tight with age and less able to hold up the weight of the breast tissue underneath. Gravity can pull the entire breast downward, as well. Breasts of all sizes can develop ptosis, but larger breasts may be more likely to than smaller breasts.

Secondly, hormone changes during pregnancy is another factor. Meaning that the breast tissue itself will go up and down in size and weight over time. Hormone changes during pregnancy accompanied by weight gain can all affect the internal structures of your breasts.

Conversely, there is another generally accepted school of thought among women that breastfeeding a baby will lead to sagging. Research doesn’t support those fears. Breastfeeding and the pressure a baby puts on breasts while nursing isn’t a significant cause of sagging.

In other words, Researchers have found out that the breast size changes that occur during pregnancy are a more substantial factor in sagging breasts.

  1. Rightly said. The breast can't remain firm forever. It falls with age, is has nothing to do with wearing bra from morning to till night every day.
